High school senior dancer photography in Los Angeles.

I lately have been gifted the opportunity to be the photographer of very talented high school senior dancers here in Los angeles, specifically Pasadena CA. I can’t tell you how much fun it is to shoot and capture such talented dancers whom are young and in high school. These high school seniors are so confident and truly love to dance and perform.
I realize that not only am I a high school senior portrait photographer, but the love I have for dance has given me the eye and precision timing of a action shot such as a dancer leaping in the air as a “one time shot / take”. My timing is perfect 99.99% of the time Ha Ha ! Shooting a dance studio in Los Angeles LADC has given me the ability to know angles, dance names and I recognize if a foot is sickle in ballet for instance. The little small simple details matter to a dance instructor and shooting along side one gives me the tools to recognize such details.

Dance has become so popular with TV shows like “So you think you can dance”. They are my favorite type of dancers who give it their all and leave it on stage. You need to have athleticism as a dancer. You need to be versatile and know different styles of dance. I feel the combination of a high school senior dancer is not as know as the cheerleader and football player around school. A senior dancer is on their way to college and choose dance as a major. I really applaud them for following their dreams and putting themselves out there. It is not easy to be in that position at that age. But I think that is why I admire their strength and drive. I think how much it has taken me to put myself out their to be judged by my piers and audience as a Los angeles based photographer. It’s tough out there. But we must do it. Either for earning a living selling portrait photography, or you do it because it is your passion and you’ll do anything to do what you do best in front of everyone.

It is my role as a photographer to capture the dancer at their peak and at their best for that millisecond in time. This millisecond needs to convey or speak almost as much as the entire dance. The impact should or needs to be there. I feel that it is really important to capture the talented dancer in such a way that you immediately see their soul through the dance, the dancer, and the image. They all need to dance together to get the picture.

Professional Photographer in Los Angeles

It seems that the world of photography is overcrowded, namely in Los angeles. Everywhere you turn someone has a dslr (digital single lens reflex) around their neck or dangling from their arm. It’s great the art form and awareness has grown. Even amongst the advent of the high rez camera phone. People actually care about the quality of their images they capture. the camera in your pocket is pretty darn amazing. They can come equipped with all sorts of apps to enhance your photograph on the spot.
Were the dslr comes in you have to take your time to compose the shot, focus and click. You check the screen in the back (modern day polaroid) and there you judge if its a keeper or a deleter.

It’s part of the image creation process nowadays. Kids, moms, dads and grandmas are photographers. Is the profession dead ? Will it be under appreciated in a few years and go away softly like an underexposed negative ? Or will it thrive and continue to be one of the most accessible art forms anyone can do ? Or can anyone just do what the pros do ?

That can be debatable because some are born with the “eye” to photograph and no amount of high end technology can create it without the artist “seeing” it first and pointing the camera, composing, focusing, adjusting manually to his or her liking and “click” a moment in time never to be relived. Its a poetic process. I personally look into the eye piece of the camera, slow my breathing, make sure the framing is correct, all of my manual settings are to my preferences and liking for the specific shot. I focus and take one last second and press the magic button that stops time.
It truly is a connection of time and creation. Its hard to explain but to photograph in Los Angeles is everywhere and I hope everyone I see with a camera in Los Angeles is enjoying their own personal photography as much as this photographer.
Photography is a beautiful art form that you create in private and in public. Not many art forms can be packaged into a small little box that you carry around with you. You never see painters walking around with easels around their necks do you ? Photography in Los Angeles is abundant and no one will ever photograph the same thing twice or the same way.
It’s a beautiful thing. I share with you a very simple snap shot of a Los angeles iconic tower. Imagine how many thousands of photographs have been taken here ? But none like this one.
The time of day, angle, height, type of camera, settings, exact spot etc. etc.
Keep it up Los angeles photographers. Keep it up.

FotoAztec Studio 5 star Yelp reviews

I have had the honor to shoot some of the best people around. I am so grateful to have them give me the highest honor in giving me their trust first, but then confirming it by giving me a five star review in one of the if not the biggest review sites that everyone goes to when looking up a business. Yelp is by far the trust worthy review site for the best photographers in Los angeles. Although located in Pasadena, ca. I am searchable in Los angeles as a top photographer for head shots and high school senior portrait photographer. I am grateful for being able to do what I do as a profession. I am getting more and more referrals and that just says how much people love my work and trust that I am the right photographer for them in capturing an important time in their lives and by me being part of it I am nothing but grateful. I hope you read my reviews on yelp (link provided) and I hope some day you can book a session with me and experience what I do. It is always funny to learn and hear that the “experience” was just as good and added to the photo session. It has become a signature thing with me and treating my clients like royalty for that day. It is a standard I strive for and for people to always remember and talk about for weeks. So far so good in that respect. People truly recall their experience with me. They comment on how relaxed I make them, how much I make them laugh, how I break down their walls, and self conscious feelings about themselves. I erase all concerns for that moment. I take away the “frozen looks” or my favorite the “out to lunch” looks on their faces. It’s all about the genuine natural look on the face of the client. I strive for one thing, well two things. Confidence with approachability. If I get that look and or feel in their image, I have won over half the battle. I have learned how to coach people into giving me that. Once they understand what i am looking for they see the difference between what I do and any other “photographer”. The difference is a gigantic leap into another level of portraiture. I hope you trust me as much as all of my clients have and you book me for your next portrait session. You’ll never forget it.
Thank you, God bless
Jerry Camarillo

Famous portrait photographers

I always apply what I learned from Peter Hurley. He is the authority in the head shot world of photography. He makes you so aware of all the things that we have been taught in the past that are so wrong and off as a head shot. Peter Hurley has fused the high end portrait and typical head shot together and put it on its side (literally) by shooting horizontal. We shoot horizontally. Our TV’s are horizontal. Movie screens are horizontal. The eye views the horizon lines naturally. So why not shoot horizontal ? This is just one small aspect to what I bring to the table as a celebrity head shot photographer. Famous portrait photographers are keenly aware of what is hip and the latest in photography styles. This is just one small aspect to what I have been taught. I hope to touch upon all of what I have been mentored into shooting and offering the very best and latest in head shot photography style. I like clean lines, minimalistic design. Zero clutter in the background which focuses only on the subject. These three are completely different looks, but yet the constant is clean, minimalistic, high end, and focused on the subject. This is what everyone should expect from all famous portrait photographers.

Hello world!

My name is Jerry (Gerardo) Camarillo.  I am the photographer and owner of FotoAztec Studio.  I hope to bring my perspective in the way I view my surroundings.  I am a designer by trade and practiced design for over 13 years.  I took to photography when I was around 10 or 11 years of age.  I “borrowed” my dad’s 35mm and took it with me on vacation to mexico where I really practiced architectural and landscape photography, before I even knew that there were such titles for what I was doing.  I have been blessed to learn from some very distinguished photographers.  I am extra blessed to be a part of an art that is constantly evolving and changing.  I hope you enjoy my postings, and hope to contribute in something worth your while.  I also hope to be consistent in doing so now and in the future.  Please visit both of my sites:  www.fotoaztecstudio.com  and www.fotoaztec.com which is my travel sight.  The studio sight is my working sight and have just been working on it for the past 3 years.  I always look to grow, and evolve.  I am open for any sort of techniques, or helpful information that may take me to that next level.  I am here to share from my mistakes and successes as well.  We all should learn from one another and have in mind that the smartest person in the world is one who realizes they do not know everything.
